In the city

In the city of Nottingham

If you’re looking for the best in shopping, live music and entertainment, Nottingham is the place for you. Our vibrant and compact city centre welcomes all types of groups.

Nottingham is packed with designer boutiques, the cream of the high street and many shoe shops. The Victoria Centre and Broadmarsh shopping centre offer high street retail heaven. And pedestrian access in our shopping districts and city centre provides a safe environment for all.

For live entertainment Trent FM Arena Nottingham hosts top names to suit all musical tastes - from Cliff Richard to CBeebies and Kasabian to Lionel Richie. There’s plenty of coach parking and facilities available around the Arena. Or try Rock City, one of the best known small venues in the country, regular host to breakthrough bands and established acts.

We're also proud of the city's cultural diversions. The Royal Centre, home to the Theatre Royal and the Royal Concert Hall, boasts a wide range of music, dance and drama throughout the year. Group discounts and backstage tours are available with prior arrangement.

The Nottingham Playhouse offers both timeless classics and a more contemporary programme. Backstage tours are available for selected performances. Limited wheelchair access and seats are available along with sign interpreted and audio described performances. Half price tickets are offered to wheelchair users.

The best way to see the city is a guided tour - a themed walk around the city, a river cruise, or dare to try a ghost walk. Our local guides will be able to tailor tours to suit your group’s needs and schedule. Contact Bone Corporation, Shaw’s Heritage Services, Nottingham Experience or Hidden Nottingham to build an inspirational itinerary.

Or why not follow in the footsteps of Robin Hood? Follow his trail through the city and into the county. Visit Nottingham Castle and NCCL Galleries of Justice before venturing out to the home of our hero, Sherwood Forest country park. Coach drop off points are conveniently located near our attractions. The NCCL Galleries of Justice, former courthouse and gaol, was the seat of Robin’s enemy the Sheriff of Nottingham. Nowadays it's an award winning attraction but it's still home to some sinister characters. It caters well for educational groups and provides teacher and student packs for all ages.

With our impressive range of restaurants, bars and clubs, Nottingham comes alive at night. The city is well known as a destination for birthday, stag and hen parties. Our compact city centre offers you a combination of entertainment for a good night out and plenty of hotels for a good night’s sleep.
